We put Princess down today. She had cancer. The tumor was large and was making it hard for her to go to the bathroom. We gave her diapers to catch the bleeding from the mass and she was on painkillers, anti-inflammatories, and a stool softener. The vet said it would only be a short time until her urine backed up and caused kidney failure. But it still feels like a betrayal, since she seemed happy and active because of the medication. She was a good dog. I’ve had her since I was nine, and she was part of the family.
